This is the Goodrich High School "Martians Mentors" autonomous vehicle that was entered in the DARPA Urban Challenge, we did not win the two million dollar prize, but we learned a lot and had great fun. The car was retrofitted with 6 webcams and a cheap GPS unit, digital compass, and solid state gyro; the cost to retrofit was about $500. The mechanical drive systems were donated by Dave Wallace, Dave is a quadriplegic and drives a handicapped van; he donated the controls from his old van.
